This web site is devoted to the aesthetic appreciation of abandoned and decaying old homes and other buildings and such, and is the official companion web site to the wildly popular Abandoned in Virginia page on Facebook, which was launched on March 3, 2014.

  1. Is it not so sad to not only see these beautiful masterpieces decay, but to know that there are people without homes & people without jobs?

    1. Some of these houses are on farms, others are owned by banks or historic trusts. Perhaps the houses were not worth the investment to repair and when the land is resold it’s possible they will be demolished. It’s great to have photographs of the history before it’s gone. Being that many of these have lay in ruin for decades, I seriously doubt that any are tied to currently unemployed or homeless people.

  2. I love seeing these old places getting to see and document these beautiful pieces of history before they are forgotten I have a blog here too doing the same thing. and some have been from Virginia 🙂 differently following 🙂
